Caesarian was Cleopatra’s first child and was born on the 23rd of June 47 BCE. His full name was actually “Ptolemy Philopate Philometer Caesar”. He spent his first three years in Rome alongside Cleopatra but after Caesar was killed he travelled to Egypt with his mother. After his father was killed Cleopatra made him her co ruler though due to the fact he was only a toddler, did nothing. Cleopatra’s dream for Caesarian was to rule the world so was doing everything she could to try and find power and well-known people in Rome to help her. Unfortunately though he was found in a small port town as Cleopatra wasn’t there to help him keep hidden . He was 17 when he was murdered by Octavian’s men.
Cleopatra Selence was one of the two twins and the only girl Cleopatra had. She was born in 40 BCE alongside her brother Alexander. She was named the ruler of Cryenaic and Libya (both parts of modern day Libya). Interestingly out of all Cleopatra’s children she was the survivor and made it into adulthood. Cleopatra (Cleopatra Selene’s mother) died when was only 10 years old and with her other two brothers, Mark Antony’s previous wife looked after them. Later on under Octavian’s/ Augustus’ order she married King Juba II of Mauretania and had two children. She had a boy named Ptolemy and a girl whose name is unknown. Cleopatra Selene lived till she was thirty-four years old. Ptolemy reigned as the King of Mauretania for roughly just less than 20 years until his second cousin (ancestor of Mark Antony) Emperor Caligula invited him to his capital in 4O CE. He was a guest of honor until his clothing stole the crowd’s amazement at a gladiatorial show. Because of this Caligula became very jealous to the point that he executed Ptolemy. The death of Ptolemy is believed to have marked the end of Cleopatra’s descendants, as his younger sister was never documented.
Alexander Helios was the other twin and like Cleopatra Selene he was born in 40 BCE. He was named the ruler of Armenia, Media (north western Iran) and Parthia (north eastern Iran). Unlike his sister he did not survive till adulthood and died under Mark Antony’s wife’s care at the age of 15.
Ptolemy Philadelphus was Cleopatra’s last child and was born in 36 BCE. He was named the ruler of Phoenicia (Israel and Lebana), Syria and Cilicia (south eastern Turkey). He died after on year in Mark Antony’s wife’s care.
